NOTRE DAME, Ind., (December 5, 2018) — In its 30th year of operations, The Shirt Project at the University of Notre Dame proudly announces the continuation of its partnership with Colosseum Athletics for the 2019 season. Colosseum will serve as the project’s vendor for a third consecutive year. After selling more than 150,000 shirts in 2018, The Shirt maintained its title of the best-selling individual item of collegiate apparel in the nation. The Shirt Committee and Colosseum Athletics are determined to make the Project’s 30th year one to remember. This year’s edition of The Shirt will be unveiled this spring.

The Shirt Committee, which is composed of 15 students and a university advisor, elected to continue its partnership with Colosseum Athletics into 2019. “We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Colosseum Athletics for the third year in a row,” stated the Committee’s president, Kristin Andrejko. “The team at Colosseum has continued to impress us with their unwavering support of our product and mission. Notre Dame fans are going to love what we have in store for The Shirt’s 30th year!”

“As a company which values the goals and traditions of Notre Dame, Colosseum is proud to play an active role in the 30th anniversary celebration of The Shirt Project”, said John Pfeifer, Sr. Vice-President of Colosseum.  “It has been a rewarding and pleasurable experience to work among the talented and enthusiastic students during the past two years, working together to support this great cause.  We look forward to the presentation of the newly designed shirt at the Spring pre-game ceremony, and striving to make this the best Shirt ever!  Again, Together We Will Own the Stands!”

Colosseum Athletics, based out of Compton, California, is the 3rd largest manufacturer of college appeal in the nation. Colosseum provides quality products for passionate fans across the nation while incorporating social responsibilities in the process. The Shirt will be made in Vietnam at the Cotton Shop, where Colosseum has invested in education for its workers in critical subjects such as health care and business administration. Additionally, The Shirt will be manufactured during the slower months of the Vietnamese business cycle, granting extra work opportunities and wages for The Cotton Shop’s workers. The Shirt then will be imprinted in California.

The upcoming Shirt will mark the Project’s 31st Shirt and 30th year in the Notre Dame community. The first two Shirts were sold in 1990 — the first to commemorate and promote Notre Dame’s game against Michigan and the second for the game against Miami to raise money for the medical bills of a graduate student who had been seriously injured in a car accident.

About The Shirt Project

Since 1990, The Shirt has united the Notre Dame student section as well as fans and alumni across the world on gamedays. The Shirt projects gives back to the campus community through donating proceeds and sales to student clubs and organizations. Half of the funds generated from The Shirt are allocated towards The Shirt Charity Fund, which supports students with extreme medical expenses. The Shirt’s proceeds also aid the University’s Office of Student Enrichment, which ensures all students have the opportunity of a full Notre Dame experience, regardless of their financial situation. During its 30 years of operations, over 2.5 million shirts have been sold, raising over $11 million for causes across campus.
